When to Trim Hedges in Southeast Texas
Timing your hedge trims wrong is how shrubs go woody. Here's when to actually do it.
General rule
Trim 2–4 times per year for most Texas hedges. The sweet spots are early spring (just before active growth), early summer (to control runaway growth), and early fall (before cooler weather slows growth). Avoid heavy trims in deep summer heat or right before a freeze.

Spring trim (March–April)
